Dortmund Overcome Leverkusen 4-3 in High-Scoring Encounter
Erling Braut Haaland's brace propelled Borussia Dortmund to a dramatic 4-3 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The Norwegian striker's goals came at crucial moments as Dortmund fought back from behind three times to claim an enthralling victory.
Leverkusen took an early lead through Patrik Schick, but Dortmund responded with a goal from Thorgan Hazard. Schick restored Leverkusen's advantage, but Julian Brandt leveled the score again before halftime. A further goal from Moussa Diaby put Leverkusen on the verge of victory, but Haaland struck with two late goals to seal the win.
Dortmund's victory was their third consecutive in the Bundesliga, lifting them up to second place in the standings. Leverkusen, meanwhile, remain in eighth place after their second defeat of the season.
"This was a great performance from us," said Dortmund manager Marco Rose. "We showed great character to come back from behind three times. Erling was excellent, and we're delighted to have him scoring goals."
"We're disappointed with the result," said Leverkusen manager Gerardo Seoane. "We had chances to win the game, but we couldn't take them. We need to learn from our mistakes and move on."
