Man City 4-0 Real Madrid: City Secure UCL Final Spot with Stunning Win
City made light-work of one of the best sides in European football, Real Madrid, in a 4-0 victory in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Riyad Mahrez scored twice in the first half, with Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva adding further goals after the break to give City a commanding lead heading into the second leg in Madrid.
City were dominant from the start, with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan controlling the midfield and creating chances for the forwards. Mahrez opened the scoring in the 12th minute after being set up by De Bruyne, and he doubled the lead 20 minutes later with a stunning free kick.
Foden made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute with a close-range finish, and Silva added the fourth in the 74th minute with a deflected shot. Real Madrid had few chances to score, with Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior well-marshalled by City's defence.
The result leaves City in a strong position to reach the final, and they will be confident of finishing the job in the second leg at the Bernabeu Stadium next week.
